In this case study, we’ll demonstrate our government building contracting expertise by taking a look at a fire station we constructed for Chillicothe, Missouri.
Firefighters are nothing without a fire station that can accommodate the requirements of a modern emergency response unit. The Chillicothe Fire Station was in need of extensive repairs and updates to remain functional, efficient, and safe.
After years of wear and tear, the building was no longer up to code and certain areas had become too dangerous to use. In order to ensure the safety of its staff and visitors, it was necessary to bring the facility up to modern standards and install the latest safety equipment. The station did not have the budget for major renovations, so they needed to work with a contractor that could find realistic, cost-effective solutions to their problems.
When it came time to decide who was going to upgrade the fire station in Chillicothe, MO, Rothwell Construction was honored to step up to the challenge. Bob Richards and Gary Sims led the team with WSKF Architects, aiming to satisfy both the City of Chillicothe’s and the fire department’s requirements.
There was one goal in mind: keep firefighters safe & provide them with everything they need for service. Internal demolitions and renovations were made, along with extra space for apparatuses. Firefighters could continue their service without interruption as all updates occurred simultaneously. The updated features included new fixtures, windows, flooring, HVAC systems, barrier free access, and more. Rothwell Construction created a comfortable work environment so they could focus on their mission instead of being disturbed by disruptive, ongoing construction processes.
The project was completed under budget and on time due to the attention to detail by the Rothwell Construction team. The Chillicothe Fire Station now meets all safety and code standards, has improved efficiency, and is a comfortable and safe environment for firefighters and visitors alike. The community is grateful to have a modern fire station serving their needs. The fire station is a testament to the Fire Department’s commitment to providing the best service possible for its citizens.
